Virtual Tabletop Launched!

The time had to come, and it has! Our own virtual board is ready and, after going through a beta phase with some of our users, you have it available to enjoy it from now on!

tabletop.digitald20.com

We wanted to give priority to simplicity over complicated and effective mechanics, and the board does what it has to do: display a map, the characters and monsters, and roll the dice. Everything within reach of anyone and without prior registration.

It’s so simple that it requires no explanation, so we’ve created some videos to show you how some of the board’s mechanics work. For example, the map background or character and monster tokens, in different sizes:

Easy, right? We have also incorporated fog of war so that it can be applied as quickly as possible, in the form of rectangles, like this:

And all that’s left is the dice. We have opted for quality configurable 3d dice, to take into account the performance of all computers. Ease of use and handling, and colour settings so that the Dungeon Master can identify each roll at a glance.

In short, a useful and easy to use board so you don’t have to invest in learning how to use it for a while that you could use in playing with it directly.

Feasting at Lanterngeist

Feasting at Lanterngeist. A Feast of Horror!

It looks like a simple harvest festival in an unremarkable village turns horribly, terribly wrong. In a way things can only do when adventurers are involved. A simple disappearance threatens to become a massacre as a hidden menace long slumbering in the bogs prepares to burst forth in the midst of this rustic revel. Will your heroes be able to thwart this menace, or will they too become a part of ravening doom that is this feasting?

Feasting at Lanterngeist is a 5th Edition adventure for 9th to 10th-level characters. It can be easily inserted into any campaign with a hint of cosmic horror in the background, or to introduce a bit of horror when your heroes might have become a bit complacent.

DIY digital gameboard

The past Villarol 2020 con we were invited to collaborate in the App Area to gamemaster a D&D adventure using our Digital d20 game system. The organization wanted to keep the experience purely digital, which for us is no problem because the adventure The Siegue of Sâlorium for example, incorporates all the pre-generated characters for the players.

But we wanted to give it an extra touch to improve the players’ game experience, and we incorporated something that we’ve been using for a long time to turn any table into a digital game board.

Something as simple as a coat rack and a projector was all we had to bring to Madrid for the event, and within five minutes we had our digital board ready.

All we needed was an ordinary coat rack, some cable ties and a projector. We put the coat rack on the table, tied the projector with the cable ties, making sure the orientation is right for our players (tip: if the table is not white, you can cover it with a tablecloth like we did) and then used the new Digital d20 “image sharing” feature to launch the maps directly to the projector – the results are amazing!

Our experience at Villarol 2020

On January 25 we were able to attend the Villarol con in the city of Madrid (Spain) with the aim of collaborating directing the game of Dungeons & amp; Dragons The Siege of Sâlorium using our platform Digital d20 .

The attendance was brutal (309 participants were subsequently confirmed) and, having already passed the start of the games, there was still a queue to access, but the access management was magnificent by the people of Bukaneros del rol, the association that organized the days, and everything was very fluid.

It was all divided according to zones: the first one of stands and another of board games, then, below, a family area and another of role-playing games, with an area on stage for the people of Dungeons & amp; Dungeons and, already on the first floor, live role games and the AppRolera area.

In the RPGApp area we share space with the people of Dungeon 20, they directing in the morning and us in the afternoon. To maintain a fully digital environment, we use the character sheets that come pre-generated with the adventure in the application, and players only had to choose their character to start playing directly.

Also, using the new screen sharing functionality , we launch the maps to a projector (one day we will tell you the secret of the coat rack) for greater immersion of the players. A most successful experience that led us to launch this functionality for all users recently.
